The Oxford Group was established in the late 1970s by a group of five Headmasters (Summer Fields, Cheam, Horris Hill, Cothill & Dragon) who, at that time, felt that their interests as boarding schools were not being sufficiently met by the various independent school associations.
Membership has grown significantly over the years and now boasts twenty-nine schools in total. The group meets annually at Radley College and periodically at other times (eg Summer Fields/Sunningdale Meeting).
The current Chairman, Simon Doggart (Headmaster of Caldicott School), took over the running of the Group in June 2009 after John Walker's (Abberley Hall) successful five year tenure.
Mark Johnson (Headmaster of Cheam) is the Group Secretary.
Future plans include a repeat of the 2010 inaugural annual conference and the development of the existing staff training programme through subject led meetings hosted by member schools.
This dedicated website has been established to provide up-to-date information relevant to the prep school world as well as a resource bank for members.
